How the pattern behaves
Compensation barely helps here. Spend the effort on your first-shot accuracy instead.
Every value below assumes a fixed in-game sensitivity and field of view. Rust scales recoil compensation against both, so changing either after you tune means re-measuring from scratch — this is the single most common reason a set of numbers that worked last week suddenly does not.

Tuning it yourself
Wall-test at about twenty metres and fire the full magazine, then read the group rather than watching your crosshair.
- Group drifts up — raise vertical control in steps of four.
- Group drifts down — you have over-corrected; drop it back.
- Group leans left or right — adjust horizontal only after vertical is flat.
- Group is tight but off-centre — that is aim, not recoil. Leave the values alone.
Scope and barrel combinations
Each optic changes the curve the script has to play, which is why a single set of numbers cannot cover every combination. Python Revolver tables are measured against all 5 optics and 4 barrel options, and re-measured after each game patch.
- None — fastest handling, widest view, no curve adjustment.
- Holo Sight — short-range curve, closest to the iron-sight baseline.
- Simple Sight — short-range curve, closest to the iron-sight baseline.
- 8x Scope — mid-to-long range; vertical control needs to come down noticeably.
- 16x Scope — long-range only; tiny crosshair movements translate to large point-of-aim changes.
